Raw De-Hydrated Granola
We make a load of different granolas at home - and this one has stood the test of time. We like it raw, done in a dehydrator, but this can be baked in an oven too - which is quicker - but obviously no longer raw …which is fine! It is delicious either way.
Packed with high quality nutrients, we sprinkle this one our Green Smoothie Bowl, on top of our Homemade Yoghurt, or we use this as a cereal with some ice cold Hemp Mylk poured all over it.
Either way, it’s a winner. I have been known to this a handful of this with me on runs too - for a wholefoods option to keep me moving through my Long Run at the weekends.
Hope you enjoy this - if you do, leave a comment, share a picture and let us know what you think!
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups raw buckwheat groats
1 1/2 cups gluten-free rolled oats
3/4 cup chopped raw nuts or seeds (pecans, cashews, and/or super healthy walnuts)
1/2 cup unsweetened coconut flakes (or shredded coconut)
3 Tbsp coconut sugar (or other dry sweetener of choice)
2 Tbsp chia seeds (or flax seeds)
1/2 tsp good quality sea salt
3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup maple syrup (add more to your liking)
3 Tbsp nut or seed butter (we always love peanut or almond)
1/3 cup dried fruit (dried goji berries, dehydrated raspberries)
Method
Prepare your sheets on the dehydrator OR preheat oven to 180c.
Add the buckwheat groats, oats, nuts, coconut, chia seeds, coconut sugar, sea salt, and cinnamon to a mixing bowl and stir to combine.
In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the oil and maple syrup until melted and mix together. Then add the nut butter (optional) and stir again to combine, and pour over the dry ingredients and mix well to coat.
Spread the mixture evenly onto a dehydrator sheets / baking sheet and dehydrate at low 30c for at least 12 hours (or bake for 25-30 minutes (or until fragrant and golden), try mixing at the halfway point to ensure even baking if you’re using the oven.
Add the dried fruit afterwards - mixing through while the mix is still warm if from the oven. Place the fully cooled granola in a sealed container that has an air-tight seal.
This should keep for a couple weeks - if it lasts that long! It never does in our house.
